54TH REGIMENT BAND c1900 ROCHESTER NY PHOTO
Apparently this large old cardboard-mounted photograph (14 x 22”) depicts a gathering or outing of the employees of the STECHER LITHO CO. in Rochester, New York.
There appear to be about 200 men, women, & children standing and sitting in this extremely well-taken photograph. Many wear ribbons, and a few hold pennants. One man in the middle is holding his pennant still against his body so the viewer can read “STECHER LITHO CO” letters on the front.
The photo is just incredibly sharp in most areas (the rather poorly-made scan below does not at all adequately show the sharpness of the original photograph).
Each person can be minutely examined and there are many fascinating little vignettes occurring at the moment captured in this photo. Each vignette can be studied in detail by a viewer with a good magnifying glass.
At the right of the photo stand ten members of the 54th Regimental Band from Rochester NY as lettered on the large drum resting against the fire hydrant. Most of their other instruments are visible including a large tuba-type horn, etc. The people are posed in front of a massive stone church? with ornate stained glass windows.
This great old photograph is in quite good condition. It is mounted on a sturdy piece of cardboard that is WARPED to a degree (see scan), but o/w good condition.
Price= $50.00 plus $6.00 postage
