OLD 1787 COURT DOCUMENT FROM FREDERICK COUNTY MD
GREAT OLD LAID PAPER Eighteenth century Frederick County, Maryland Court document 4 ¼ x 8”, part printed, part manuscript.

The State of Maryland to the Sheriff of Frederick County greeting. We command you, that you take Robert Hammett late of Frederick County, Yeoman if he shall be found in your Bailiwick, and him safe keep, so that you have his body before the Justices of our next County Court, to be held at the Court House, in Frederick-Town . . .

Apparently concerns the payment of a debt of 9 pounds, 12 shillings between Hammett and a Valentine Black. Signed by William Ritchie Clerk. Thomas Beatty is named on the reverse as the Sheriff. Attractive old script f for s throughout this old document printed in the Articles of Confederation era. Some stains and beginning of edge tear at fold line (see scan). Otherwise good condition on paper of fine rag content.
