3 OLD PHOTOS OF FIRST CHATTANOOGA TN AIRPORT c1930s
THREE photographs of what must be the first Airport built to serve Chattanooga, Tennessee c1930s, as follows:
--8 x 10” glossy photo showing part of runway, conning tower & airplane hanger with “CHATTANOOGA” written visibly on the front of the hanger. Also word “Municipal” visible painted on roof of the hanger for visibility from the air. Workmen stand in doorway. Lots of detail under magnification. Printed on reverse “Cline Studios, 111 E. 8th. Chatta. Tenn.” Minor corners damage, otherwise, quite good condition as shown in scan of photo & enlarged details.
--7 x 11.25” flat black & white photograph showing the building with the conning tower. Building looks brand new with “Keep Off” signs on the grass, etc. Good condition.
--8 x 10” glossy photo taken from an airplane, showing both buildings and the entire runway system as well as the surrounding countryside. Good contrast, lots of details under magnification, etc. One 1” tear at top, otherwise good condition as shown in scan of photo & enlarged detail.
