1862 CDV PHOTO OF A BLACK CHILD POSED AS ‘YOUNG AFRICA’
A scarce old carte de visite photograph (2.5 x 4”). Printed on the cardboard mount just below the photograph is the caption: “YOUNG AFRICA or the Bone of Contention. Published by E and H.T. Anthony 501 Broadway, N.Y. This was entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1862 by E and H.T. Anthony in the Clerks office of the District Court of the U.S. for the So District of New York.” This Civil War era photograph has great contrast and is in good condition. Upper corners are clipped, which was done for ease of slipping in & out of the old CDV photograph albums.
