14 OLD RPPC FACTORY, FLOOD, STORE, STREET SCENES, ETC

Group lot of FOURTEEN Real Photo Postcards from 1905-15. Many diverse subjects but few are identified as to location, etc. Most have related numbers written on the reverse in pencil but the writing is relatively contemporary and may or may not mean that all the cards are from the same source. Condition of these postcards is generally good but there are some black ink marks and large sticker-stains on the reverse of some cards. Scans below show the front & back of all but one card with some enlarged detail of a few. Individual cards are as follows:

--Great view of guests relaxing on the porch of a LARGE HOTEL with an “Ice Cream” sign near the steps. Written on the reverse of this card is “One of the pleasant HOTELS on our lake at MANITOU [or MANITON].” Black paper residue on the reverse show this card was once mounted in a scrapbook. Otherwise good condition & contrast as shown in scan.

--STREETSCENE of unidentified location. Buildings & wheelbarrow in the snow. Unused back.

--Family stand together outside their home. Light struck in upper right of photo. Unused back.

--Man & woman stand outside their home. Interesting GAS? LAMP in foreground. Can’t make out the postmark but sent to Montpelier, Ohio. Somewhat dark contrast, otherwise good condition.

--Children in front of a two story house. Good condition and unused back.

--GENERAL STORE building with man out front. Two broadsides show horses (under magnification), one with the name “TEDY” visible. Good condition & unused back.

--People stand in a FLOODED STREET in front of a Christian Church with stained glass windows. No location noted on the card. Good condition with unused back.

--Two men ride in a horse pulled buggy across a small town bridge. In the background is a storefront with the legible sign (under magnification) “AVEY’S GENERAL STORE.” There is also a visible BELL TELEPHONE sign. Good condition with unused back.

--Gent stands on a pile of what may be railroad ties. Good condition with unused back.

--Chicken wire fence in front of tree-shaded old two story home. Photo is actually pasted onto the postcard back. Written at right of photo is “DR. OSBOURNE” in ink. Contrast is somewhat dark. Otherwise good condition with unused back.

--Street scene with a trolley car. Unidentified location and extremely light exposure—little is visible. 1” tear along left edge. Unused back.

--Boy sits on a bridge in front of a large factory-like building. Other buildings in distance. Good condition with unused back.

--Laboring man in cap & overalls rests back with his feet up on wooden rails. Light contrast but otherwise good condition with unused (stained) back.

--Family poses in front of their newly built two-story brick home. [This photograph is NOT SHOWN IN THE SCAN BELOW].

This is an interesting and varied lot of Real Photo Postcards.
