OLD c1900 PHOTO OF WEST VIRGINIA COAL MINE FIRE
FLAMES & BILLOWING SMOKE are vividly shown as a large wooden structure burns to the ground. Several men watch the photographer. Old cardboard-mounted photograph 10 x 12”. Written on the back in pencil (not period) is “FIRE IN COAL MINE WV c1900.” No other information on photo. Cardboard mount is spotted and has rounded corners (see scan). Few wrinkles in photograph where it has lossened from the mount, but otherwise in good condition. Interesting and rather rare subject matter. Scan shows photo & enlarged detail.
