RARE 1914 WOODROW WILSON WEDDING ANNOUNCEMENT

An original old WEDDING ANNOUNCEMENT BY PRESIDENT AND MRS. WOODROW WILSON ISSUED FROM THE WHITE HOUSE IN 1914 UPON THE OCCASION OF THEIR DAUGHTER’S MARRIAGE. The announcement measures about 5 ¾ x 6 ½” and reads:
The President and Mrs. Wilson have the pleasure of announcing the marriage of their daughter ELEANOR RANDOLPH to MR. WILLIAM GIBBS McADOO on Thursday, May the seventh nineteen hundred and fourteen. Washington, D. C.

The original envelope is present and embossed in the upper left corner, “THE WHITE HOUSE.” It is addressed to “Miss Bruce Williams, 1818 H Street, Washington, DC, and is postmarked May 7th, 8:30 PM, 1914.

An unusual and ephemeral old item from President Wilson’s first term in the White House. Eleanor was married in the White House. Item is in quite good condition except for severe original fold lines (see scan).
