OLD CDV PHOTOGRAPH OF PRESIDENT ABRAHAM LINCOLN
Civil War era Carte de Visite photograph 2 ½ x 4". This
pose of Lincoln is one of the more famous.
According to Lloyd Ostendorf's Lincoln in Photographs,
page 89, the original photo was probably taken between 24 February and 4 July
1861. Possibly made by BRADY,
FREDRICKS, GERMON OR MC CLEES. This
example is unsigned and is full size (not vignetted). The image is a copied photo but not a lithograph or
engraving. It was likely pirated from
one of the major photo studios and sold after Lincoln’s assassination. A nice full-view example of this type photo. Good condition except for 4 corners clipped
long ago to allow ease of slipping the CDV into an old photo album. Slight crease along bottom edge of photo
that is only apparent on the reverse.
Price= $350.00
