ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE IMAGE BELOW:

After carefully tilting plate "H", a camera was used to record two views of the negatively-reflecting daguerreotype surface. The castellated tower in the images on the left shows as "dark".

ON THE RIGHT:
Software "inversion" of both images shows the contrasting positively-reflecting surface.
The castellated tower is now "light".





POSITIVE TO NEGATIVE


ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE IMAGE BELOW:

A camera was used to capture the positively-reflecting daguerreotype surface of plate "H" (with enlarged detail).
The castellated tower appears as "light".

ON THE RIGHT:
Software "inversion" of both images shows the contrasting negatively-reflecting plate "H".
The castellated tower is now "dark".
