BEAUTIFUL ORIGINAL OGDEN PRINTS OF US ARMY UNIFORMS

--Large (about 14.5 x 16.5”) ORIGINAL c1889 chromolithograph color print from the book:
UNIFORM OF THE ARMY OF THE UNITED STATES, ILLUSTRATED FROM 1774-1889, Authorized by the Secretary of War and prepared under the supervision of the Quartermaster General S. B. Holabird, lithographed by G.H. Buek & Company, NY and published by B.M. Whitlock, NY.

--The artist chosen to draw the series was H. A. Ogden, who specialized in military subjects. Ogden’s superb paintings of army dress & field uniforms were "long regarded as the masterpiece of American military art."

--All prints are dated 1885, on heavy off-white paper (actually more like sturdy cardboard). The plate number and description is printed below the chromolithograph, and “H. A. Ogden” is signed (facsimile) in the print.

--Each of these original old prints are colorful, attractive, and super for framing.

    --Large (about 17 1/2" by 13 1/4" page, 9" x 13" actual print) ORIGINAL 1899 chromolithograph color print removed from the following rare old book: Lt. Col Arthur L. Wagner and Com. J. D. Jerrold Kelley, THE UNITED STATES ARMY AND NAVY: The Country's Defensive Forces in War and Peace. Their Histories from the Era of the Revolution to the Close of the Spanish-American War. Akron OH, The Werner Company, 1899.

    --At the end of the 19th century, the Werner Company of Akron, Ohio was at the forefront of new developments in printing technology. Their famous chromolithographic color plates depicted scenes of military campaign & battle, as well as the uniforms of officers and non-commissioned officers and the changes to the uniform through time for both Army and Navy, 1776-1899.

    --Each of these antique 19th century chromolithographs (not reproductions) are vividly colored, attractive, and super for framing.

    --Large (about 17 1/2" by 13 1/2" page, 9" x 13" actual print) ORIGINAL 1900 chromolithograph color print removed from the following rare old book: “GERMANY'S ARMY AND NAVY by Pen and Picture,” Compiled from the Latest and Best Authorities; with Accounts of their Organization, Composition, and Classification by Gustav A. Sigel, With Important Original Contributions on the German Army by Major-General von Specht. Artistically Illustrated by THE WERNER COMPANY, Akron, Ohio, 1900.

    --At the end of the 19th century, the Werner Company of Akron, Ohio was at the forefront of new developments in printing technology. Their famous chromolithographic color plates depicted the uniforms of officers and enlisted men of various famous German Army Regiments performing military tasks. The naval section shows uniforms of officers and enlisted Seamen and Marines as well as principal ships of the German Navy. Illustrations also show weapons and equipment including a few aircraft and dirigibles in use at the time.
