OLD 1950s N&W RY ADVERTISING PROOF & 6 BROCHURES

SEVEN interesting old Norfolk & Western advertising items in this lot as follows:

--Nice old N&W RR Advertising Proof on heavy, glossy, white paper 6 x 9.5”. Ad reads: “VIRGINIA BEACH ROUND TRIP $23.70 plus tax. Excursion Fare from Portsmouth . . . Norfolk and Western Railway.” Other printed information in fine print. Nice condition. Someone has written “1953” in small ink numbers in lower right corner.

--Brown, gray & white folded 4 page brochure. Folded measures 4" x 9"-- “The NEW N & W . . . Nations GOING-EST RAILROAD”. Inside shows a map of the N&W line. Good condition.

--A colorful fold-out advertising brochure 5" x 9 3/4" folded, “6 KEYS (VA, MD, WVA, OH, NC, KY) WHY YOU SHOULD LOCATE YOUR NEW FACTORY IN THE LAND OF PLENTY”. Unfolded measures a large 15" x 19 ½" and offers to send a free book with horn of plenty on front about investment potential in the area. 3" x 6" map in lower left of the Norfolk and Western Railway line running through the six states. Good condition

--TWO apparently similar (but not identical) brochures to the above item. Both are still folded & STILL SEALED WITH THEIR ORIGINAL RED & YELLOW COLORED SEALS (see scan). On the outside, one has another illustration of a horn of plenty. The second is illustrated on the outside with what appears to be a scene from “Ali Baba & the 40 thieves.” Both these brochures also measure 5 x 9 ¾” folded and appear to be in excellent condition.

--Red, gray, & white folded 8 page pamphlet. Folded measures 6" x 9"-- “Bell (picture) PLUS Signal (picture) PLUS Crossing guardrail (picture) EQUALS Round the Clock Safety”. Unfolded measures about 9" x 24". Photos and text inside, including nice photo of J-class locomotive passing crossing in 1950s Pulaski, VA. Good condition.

--Gray, gold, & white folded 6-page brochure. Folded measures about 6" x 6"-- “How the N&W Builds a Work Horse” (Full of pictures and statistics about building the new 95-ton roller Bearing Hopper Car). Map of Railway on back. Unfolded measures about 6" x 18". Good condition.
