OLD POCKET KODAK MOUNTED PHOTOGRAPHIC PRINTS c1910
Lot of FOUR photographs.
--TWO are small images just 1.5 x 2” mounted on cardboard 3 x 3.5” on which small raised embossed letters read “POCKET KODAK.” One of the photos shows a MAN PLOWING behind his plow horse in a large field of what appears to be tobacco plants. The second image shows two women sitting outside and is interesting because there is a definite DOUBLE EXPOSURE in the photograph. Both photos have some staining & scrapes as shown in scan.
--The other TWO photos are larger images with the same embossed letters on the white-paper covered cardboard mount. On these two photos the label is just the one-word “KODAK” so they were presumably taken with a Kodak camera other than the small pocket Kodak. The larger of these two photos measures 4 x 4.5” and its cardboard mount measures 5.5 x 6.5.” Five people pose on what appears to be a “high” place. Good condition.
The smaller of these two photos measures 3.5” square on a 5” square mount. A bearded man holding a derby hat sits on a front porch. There is some damage to the mount of this photograph (see scan).
None of the 4 photos have great contrast or sharp detail as was appearently fairly typical with these early cameras. These four photos all came together from the same Lynchburg, Virginia estate auction. Scan shows the 4 photos together & enlarged details of three.
