7 OLD CHROMOLITHOGRAPH STENGEL ART POSTCARDS Religious

Camera technology and printing technology were at a high point in Germany during the early years of the 20th century, and some of the best postcard chromolithography was accomplished by the firm of Stengel & Company (in Dresden). Some of the finest postcards ever printed are found in the fine art reproductions printed & numbered by Stengel. The SEVEN postcards in this group all have religious themes as follows:

--#29670 “Christius am Kreuze mitt den Seinen. Munkacsy.” Some white spots, creases, and some indentation in corners from previous album insertion (see scan).

--#29022 “La Conception Immaculee de le Vierge. Bartolome Esteban Murillo.” Few creases and some indentation in corners from previous album insertion (see scan).

--#47018 “Furchtet Euen Nicht. Paul Melchior von Deschwanden.” Some indentation in corners from previous album insertion (see scan).

--#29002 “Die Heillge Nacht. Bartolome Esteban Murillo.” Some indentation in corners from previous album insertion (see scan).

--#47044 “Herz Jesu. Roeifel.” Some indentation in corners from previous album insertion (see scan).

--#47045 “Herz Maria. Roeifel.” Some indentation in corners from previous album insertion (see scan).

--#29078 “Dinner in a Monastery on Friday. W. Dendy Sadler.” Severe creases, and 1” tear in from right edge (see scan of enlarged detail for some of this damage).
