CARTOON OF PHOTOGRAPHER IN OLD 1882 PA ALMANAC
“HOSTETTER’S ILLUSTRATED US ALMANAC 1882 for Merchants, Mechanics Miners, Farmers, Planters, and General Family Use.” Published by Hostetter & Smith, Pittsburgh, PA. 5" x 7 ˝", 36 pages, blue paper wraps. Illustration on front cover and on several pages, including 6 half-page cartoons. Moon signs and astrology signs throughout. One of the cartoons concerns a PHOTOGRAPHER ABOUT TO TAKE THE LENS CAP FROM HIS CAMERA TO MAKE A PORTRAIT OF A MAN SITTING IN A POSING CHAIR WITH HEADSTAND. The caption beneath the comic reads:

“PHOTOGRAPHER, (about to remove the screen from the camera.)-- “All ready! That is very good but couldn’t you--ah--put a little intelligence into your eyes.”

Cover is somewhat stained and the back cover is stained and has a few small tears. The right side of the entire booklet has about 1 ˝" long rough chipped spot on the right edge. Otherwise in good condition.
